A interesting tapas spot in a rustic former firehouse great for a meal before a show at the fox theater. I was there solo so couldn't take advantage of friends stomachs to try more things but I ordered the following (the menu changes often, but to give a sense): - dirty pop: a house-made low ABV soda; I like to pick the weirdest drinks and I got that, and while it wasn't to my taste you gotta explore and exploit sometimes - ensalada de col: creamy dressed shaved cabbage with anchovy dressed olives and pistachio; the restaurants take on Caesar salad that was both refreshing and complex, it would have been a balanced accompaniment to the paella if I had an extra stomach. As is, it's a huge amount of cabbage - ensalada de broccolini: baby broccoli with a saffron fava bean purée and warm cubes of what felt like tofu but I think was set pureee chickpeas(?); flavor was unique but hit the spot - strawberry and rhubarb upside down cake with caramel; the most expensive dessert I've had at a sit down restaurant but I needed some carbs after all that cabbage and damn this was good! the cake was baked upside down in a jumbo muffin tin and that crisp muffin edge hits different. Logistics: - indoor seating only - limited street parking nearby but half a block away from the 19th Street BART station - some vegetation and gluten free options but this place is best family style so plan accordingly - reservations recommended

One of the better spots I've been to recently - loved everything we got on the menu, including the Serrano pepper soda which was so fun. We had a few different small bites from the appetizer menu and a paella. All dishes are well prepared and the server was very transparent about the one that wasn't prepared in house (the stuffed squid was served in the can that it came in, but an exquisite bite!) More like 4.5 as service was a little bit hectic (granted it was on a concert night, I heard), but the food was great. Will definitely return soon to try more things on the menu.

The service, the food and the personalized service by Chef Paul Canales was impeccable. We started off with the Fritangas De Patas & it was amazing. It was full of flavor & very tasty. We also tried the Patatas Bravas, which was fresh, crisp & flavorful. The Duende Burger was so scrumptious & satisfying. We ended out meal with the Chocolate Pot De Crème which was so divine, smooth , delectable & perfect. The Chef was so cordial & friendly, as well as the rest of the staff. We will definitely be back & I recommend this place.

Great tapas and cocktails -- they've got a delicious hibiscus mocktail and ginger/floral drink for those not imbibing. We went with the patatas bravas w/ aioli, crudo and veggie burger. Solid, and lovely service from Ryan. One of the few spots still open most nights throughout downtown.
